This is certainly not the post I’d hoped to be publishing,
but for many of you who have been visiting my blog since the very beginning,
it’s important for me to share.
Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. At the age of
36, this was a big shock. Having undergone a whirlwind week of tests, fits of
crying, next to no sleep, and zero appetite, I’m relieved to report that the
prognosis is encouraging. All the test results indicate that my Stage 2 cancer
is curable. I hope to have a treatment plan determined by the week’s end.
It is my intention to still work with my oldest son when I
can. He’s going to need some sense of normalcy and I’m going to need a distraction
and to continue doing the things I love. The pace of our activities will no
doubt slow, and some weeks cease altogether. I will post when I can, but it
will be irregular, sporadic, and unpredictable.
I have LOVED being part of the blogging community and
consider many of you to be friends. During this time, I hope you’ll be patient.
Oh goodness! I'll be praying for you, that is scary.

ReplyDeleteI've been following and enjoying your posts for quite a while now. I will keep you in my prayers! I hope that you find that you are stronger than you ever imagined, and that this is something you will look back on much later in life with memories of that strength!
ReplyDeleteOh wow... I'll be praying for you. As a 35 year old, that hits close to home. It is a great thing that you found it so early. Would you mind sharing how? I always worry that I would miss the early warning signs. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI felt the mass and immediately called to get in for a mammogram. From there, an ultrasound was conducted, and then a biopsy. There are LOTS of young women battling breast cancer and since many doctors don't order an mammogram for you until age 40, self breast exams are the best way to catch it. Bottom line, if you feel something, don't dismiss it. You know your body.

ReplyDeleteYou are in my prayers. My mother just celebrated being 15 years breast cancer free after being diagnosed in her 40's with no family history. Ladies - find a doctor you are comfortable with! I love mine -- I had a first mammo at 35 (am 36 now) and they do not hesitate to go to an ultrasound for more details if needed. ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this news!!! I just had a very good friend go through cancer treatment (not breast cancer) and I know how it can zap your strength. Take care of yourself, and know that you WILL beat this. Don't worry about the blog, I know you will post if you can, just keep us up to date on your health, that is the most important thing. Normalcy is good for your family especially the kids, so thinking first of yourself and them is most important right now. Looking forward to when your life is yours again. Know you are in our thoughts, and get well very, very soon!

I have always kind of felt like we started our blogging journey together, you were one of my first followers, and I always know I can stop here leaving fully inspired. ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the shock, but so happy for the good prognosis. Many are with you at this time sending hugs, prayers and positive thoughts. I'll add mine to that. I know they work as I've just gone through my own surprise melanoma this April and a young parent in my program has just complete her treatment for breast cancer. We are both doing GREAT! You will too!

ReplyDeleteWe have much in common you and I. I was also just diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I am 35 and have a 7 year old son. I have been following your blog for almost a year now. I love your ideas and printables. I am so sad to hear your news. I just had 5 rounds of chemotherapy and am about to schedule my surgery. I don't know what your treatment is going to be, but know that your family will be a huge strength to you. Feel free to email me if you have any questions regarding chemo. You can do this!!!

ReplyDeleteJust found your blog tonight... Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am 2 months out of treatment for Stage 3C breast cancer... 8 rounds of chemo and 33 rounds of radiation with surgery prior to that. My grandkids were my reason... Find your reason to survive everything. Prayers coming your way.
